Whether you want to hang out at the beach, play a sport, go skating, find a part time job or get an apprenticeship, Gladstone also offers young people plenty of choice.

Tannum Sands Surf Life Saving Club

There’s nothing much more Aussie than being a surf life saver. So if you’ve always wanted to be part of a surf club, Gladstone offers that too at our beach side suburb of Tannum Sands about 25 minutes from Gladstone. Splash Zone at the Gladstone Aquatic Centre

There’s no better way to cool down than in a pool and Gladstone has a new water park attraction. Splash Zone is a lagoon style water play park which features fun slides, water jets, cannons, sprays, bubblers, a toddler’s’ pool and plenty of shade. For those that are game, there’s the Big Tipper Bucket which dumps 500 litres of water from six metres every 90 seconds

Police Citizens Youth Club

The Gladstone PCYC offers before and after school care, vacation care, gym, boxing, Crèche, Irish dancing, yoga, roller derby, an outdoor skate park, and an outside BBQ area. It also hosts senior and junior basketball, hockey, gymnastics and futsal competitions. For more information please go to the PCYC website.

SunFest

Gladstone Regional Council’s SUNfest Youth Program provides low cost activities for the young people in Gladstone. The festival has grown to provide over 100 activities for more than 1,000 young people. SUNfest is held each January for two weeks during the summer school holidays.

Education Queensland Industry Partnership (EQIP)

Gladstone has a world class school based apprenticeship program. If you want to become an electrician or hairdresser, carpenter or bookkeeper, a metal worker or IT programmer, the Education Queensland Industry Partnership (EQIP) can help you get the crucial on the job experience you need to start you off.

Our area has several skate parks and BMX tracks so if that’s your thing you can see all the skate park locations on the Gladstone Regional Council website.

To help you have some financial independence there are many small retail, fast food and hospitality businesses in Gladstone who employ young people, so ask around when you get here.
